Elliott D. Levin, JD’66, is a recognized expert in bankruptcy law, creditor’s rights, and corporate reorganization. Currently a partner in the law firm of Rubin & Levin, he heads the task force for the Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Section of the Indiana State Bar Association. Under Levin’s leadership, the task force recommended amendments to the Indiana exemption statute, which recently became law. more »

The Indiana University Foundation President's Medal recognizes a recipient's outstanding and continued support of the Foundation and the University.

Michael S. "Mickey" Maurer's dynamic career as an attorney and entrepreneur includes cable television, film production, radio broadcasting, newspaper publishing, government service, and banking. An Indianapolis native, he graduated from North Central High School and attended the University of Colorado before attending Indiana Law, where he wrote and edited for the Indiana Law Journal.

George P. Smith II, Class of 1964

Upon graduating from Indiana Law, George P. Smith, II, stayed on and began his professional career as a Krannert Teaching Fellow. Subsequently, he earned an LLM from Columbia University and was awarded a Commonwealth Fellowship in Law, Science, and Medicine at the Yale Law School. As a scholar, his first published article appeared in 1965 in the Notre Dame Law Review. His current bibliography consists of 185 entries and includes 13 books. He has taught more than 5,000 students nationwide at Michigan, Notre Dame, Georgetown, George Washington, and Connecticut. Since 1977, he has been a professor at The Catholic University Law School in Washington, D.C.

Milton O. Thompson, Class of 1979

Milton "Milt" O. Thompson is "of counsel" with the firm of Barnes & Thornburg and president and CEO of Grand Slam Companies, a sports, entertainment, and recreation management consulting firm. A former certified contract advisor with the NFL and NBA Players Association, he represented top professional athletes in all sports. He sits on the Indianapolis Indians Baseball Club board of directors and the board of Indiana Sports Corp. He currently hosts ESPN950's weekly radio show "Playing for Keeps," which features the business of sports, and he previously hosted television shows including "Hoosier Know It Alls," "Focus on Indianapolis Sports," and the public affairs show "Indiana Focus" on local station WNDY-TV.

Robert P. Kassing, JD'64

When Robert Kassing joined Bose McKinney & Evans in 1964, he was one of 10 attorneys. With 130 attorneys in Indianapolis and offices throughout Indiana and in Washington, D.C., Bose McKinney & Evans has grown considerably in size and reputation under Kassing's leadership. As managing partner from 1969 to 2004, Kassing chaired the management committee and oversaw several firm and partner organizational functions. He also ensured that the firm never lost the familial culture of its earlier days. more »

One hundred one years ago, Masuji Miyakawa became the first Asian American graduate of the School of Law. But that was not his only first.
