The Center for Law, Ethics, and Applied Research in Health Information is addressing some of the critical issues arising from the exponential growth in the development of new sources of health information. Medical data is being compiled from novel sources, and being shared by more institutions at record speed. While technological and communication breakthroughs have advanced dramatically, vexing ethical and policy questions remain about how that data should be collected, stored, and used. CLEAR Health Information uses, in an interdisciplinary center applying law, ethics, and human factors, methods to address them. The center is a collaboration involving faculty experts from two Indiana University centers: The Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research in Bloomington, and the Indiana University Center for Bioethics in Indianapolis.
