Annual Evening at Oliver Winery Supports ELS

A crowd of law students, alumni supporters, and faculty members gathered for private wine tasting, a silent auction, and tours of the local winery during the annual Evening at Oliver Winery, hosted by the School's Environmental Law Society.

The comfortable September weather made mingling under the grapevine canopy especially appealing this year. A large crowd helped to raise more than $3,000 for the Society and the School's new Conservation Law Clinic and Conservation Law Center.

Indiana Law students enjoy getting to know professors, already well-known for accessibility and involvement in student organizations, outside of class. "It was an intimate setting that allowed people from every class level to meet," said first-year student Anna Obergfell.

Bloomington businesses donated auction items—the most-coveted a custom suit from local retailer J.R. Stallsmith, perfect for on-campus and on-location interviews. Attendees also made wagers for a $500 day at Mondo Spa, goods from Cactus Flower vintage shop, other dining and shopping gift certificates, and more.

Environmental Law Society members attend and have twice hosted the NAELS National Conference. The group also hosts guest speakers and works closely with the newly formed Conservation Law Clinic to promote legal skill development and support campus and community environmental awareness.
