Summer Start Program

Indiana Law is one of the few law schools in the country that allows our admitted students the chance to take a class the summer before classes begin. Our Summer Start program offers up to 70 incoming law students the opportunity to transition to law school—and to Bloomington—by taking one class instead of the five classes per semester that you’ll take as a 1L. Students who are returning to law school after a break in their studies tend to find this program particularly attractive.

The 2012 Summer Start program offers torts, a 4-credit course taught by Professor Donald Gjerdingen. The course is neither less rigorous than or graded any differently from the torts course taught in the fall semester.

During the fall semester, Summer Starters will enroll in Criminal Procedure, a course that nearly all students take in the second or third year.

Tuition & Fees

2012 resident $3,392; non-resident $6,402.

Class schedule

Begins July 2. Final Exam on August 7.

To enroll in the program, send an e-mail to lawadmis@indiana.edu expressing your interest in joining the class.
