Kathleen A. Buck Loan Reduction Assistance Program

Indiana Law's LRAP program provides up to $4000 in grant assistance to help students pay for their bar review course, their bar application expenses, and their living expenses while preparing for the bar. These are expenses for which federal education loans cannot be obtained.

These grants are intended to assist graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to public interest careers through their actions and behavior while in law school and who then decide to work in public interest or governmental qualifying positions after graduation.

In addition to the LRAP program, there is a special summer fellowship program and a Legal Services Office Fellowship ($4,000 available to second- and third-year students working at Legal Services), which continues to reflect Indiana Law's commitment to support students with public interest aspirations.

The relatively new Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program allows public interest minded graduates to choose a loan repayment plan which lowers their monthly student loan payment and provides them with potential loan forgiveness within as little as 10 years of obtaining full-time employment in the public or not-for-profit sector.

More about Kathleen Buck and the Program

The Kathleen A. Buck Loan Repayment Assistance Program supports and assists Indiana Law graduates who choose careers in public interest law.

An Academy of Law Alumni Fellows member and a beloved 1973 alumna, her work in the public interest was recognized by countless organizations before her death in 2001. Buck’s bequest shines a positive light on a legal profession that needs talented lawyers to represent underserved communities.
