Class of 2007 Shows Talent, Loyalty
Graduates Head for Success
A warm Saturday, May 5, saw Indiana Law's class of 2007 claim hoods and diplomas. Guest speaker
Pamela Jones Harbour, JD'84, and student speaker Peter Wozniak addressed an impressive crowd of 2007 graduates.
Alumni of this class will work in at least 18 states, Washington, D.C., and China. They go on as judicial clerks in the U.S. District Courts, state supreme courts, and four state-level courts. They accepted positions with major firms including Arnold & Porter, Baker McKenzie, Jones Day, Ropes & Gray, and Winston & Strawn. Six are finalists for prestigious Presidential Management Fellowships.
Government agencies and major corporations such as the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Department of Justice, Target Corp., Ford Corp., and Abbott Laboratories also hired from this talented crop of students.
Class Pledge Campaign Shatters Records
In the most successful class pledge campaign to date, this year's graduates raised
the bar for young alumni. Over half of the class of 2007—some 53 percent—committed to more than $67,000 in pledges.
"This is the highest dollar amount and participation rate for the class campaigns by far," said Annual Fund Director Amy Purvis. The previous record was $43,000 with a 35-percent class participation rate.
They're starting an important trend as they join our tight-knit alumni network. Alumni giving rates are an important illustration of alumni involvement for corporations and foundations as they consider making grants or large gifts to the School. And for guidebooks such as U.S. News & World Report, alumni giving rates factor into the perceived quality of an Indiana Law education.
