38 Researchers Join Law Firms Working Group

Professor William Henderson of Indiana University School of Law Bloomington In another exciting collaboration, the American Bar Foundation and Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington now co-sponsor the Law Firms Working Group. Professor William Henderson is leading the initiative.

Pursuant to a special license with American Lawyer Media, law and social science researchers nationwide submitted proposals to the LFWG to gain access to an extensive archive of cross-sectional and longitudinal data on law firms and practicing lawyers.

Fourteen research teams comprised of 38 scholars are now at work. Their groundbreaking investigations of subjects such as law firm structure and financial performance, lawyer demographics, lawyer mobility, relative law firm prestige, practice group prominence, and many other facets of modern law firm practice will define legal education and the modern legal profession.

Indiana Law is committed to preparing students for the changing needs of the legal profession. This project will serve as one engine for change, informing our continuously updated curriculum, our clinical program, and our teaching.
