Rare Books and Archives

The Law Library’s Rare Book Collection includes holdings of continental European and English law printed before 1850 and American imprints before 1877. Of particular interest are the holdings of territorial and early state statutes and reports of the United States; English and American legal treatises; and early Indiana statutes, reports and legal treatises including first editions of Blackford Reports, Indiana Reports, and McDonald’s Treatise.

The Archive Collection in the Law Library includes a diverse manuscript collection. Holdings include the private papers of Judge Wilbur F. Pell, Jr. and Mary Chase Pell; Retired Colonel Guy M. Kinman; Judge Roscoe O’Byrne and Estella O’Byrne; and Law Professors Douglass G. Boshkoff; F. Reed Dickerson, Val Nolan Jr.; and F. Thomas Schornhorst.

The Law School Archive contains holdings which include the papers of the Deans of the Law School from 1922 to 1990, the Faculty Writings Collection, and institutional manuscripts and photographs for the Law School and Law Library.
