USING THE LIBRARY ::

Computer Facilities
The Library has three computer rooms available for use by law students as well as a laptop room. The computer rooms are located on the 2nd floor in the Media Center. In these rooms students may use word processing and spreadsheet programs, check email, do research using legal databases, web-based subscription services and CD-ROMs, or just surf the Internet. The laptop room is located on the 2nd floor in Room 206E. This room provides network access for students with laptop computers. Printing is also available in the computer rooms.

In addition to the workstations in the computer rooms and network access in the laptop room, all conference rooms and carrels are wired for access to the University network. A wireless system is also available throughout the Library. Network cards for the wired and wireless systems are available for checkout at the circulation desk in the Library.

On-Line Catalog: IUCAT
The On-Line Catalog (IUCAT)contains records of the holdings for all of the libraries at Indiana University. Currently IUCAT includes records for all of the Law Library collection and approximately 35% of the holdings of other libraries on the Bloomington campus. IUCAT may be searched by author, title, subject, and keyword. For assistance in using the online catalog, please consult a reference librarian.

Carrels
The Library has a number of study carrels that are assigned to law students for the academic year. Carrel assignments occur during the first full week of classes in the fall semester. Although there are not enough carrels for all law students, typically students who wish to have a carrel are able to get one. Circulating materials may be checked out to the carrel for the academic year. Carrels are also assigned for the summer.

Conference Rooms
There are eight conference rooms available in the Library for small group study. Use of these rooms is for law students and faculty only, except under special circumstances. All conference rooms may be reserved in advance for a maximum of three hours per day. Reservation forms are at the circulation desk.

Food and Drink
Food and drinks are generally permitted in the Law Library. Students are asked to cooperate with this policy by discarding containers and reporting spills immediately. Food and drinks are not allowed in the computer rooms.

Copy Machines
Four copy machines are located in the lobby of the Law Library. Copies are $0.15/page and each machine takes either coins or a copy card. You may add money to your Campus Access Card (I.D. card) and use it to make copies. Money may be added to your account at Ashton Center, Copies and More at the IMU, the Copy Machines Department at the Main Library, or at any Value Transfer Station.

Smoking
The Law School has been designated as a smoke-free building. The use of all tobacco products is prohibited in the Library. A smoking area is located on the patio off the first floor of the Law School.

Cell Phones
Because of disruption from noise, the use of cell phones is prohibited in the Library. Use of cell phones is restricted to the lobby area or conference rooms.
