Home > Collections > U.S. Government Documents Collection U.S. GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS COLLECTION :: The Law Library has participated in the Federal Depository Library Program since 1978, selecting approximately 20% of the material available to depository libraries through this program. The Library collects all publications of Congress, all Justice Department publications, administrative reports and decisions, major agency annual reports, and other publications thought to be important for research in law or law-related subjects. Additional documents are selected with the research interests of the law faculty in mind. The Library also attempts to collect comprehensively in the areas of civil rights and the environment. The documents collection is fully cataloged using OCLC and those records have been fully integrated into IUCAT the university’s online library catalog. In addition to print publications (paper and microform), the variety of formats of government information includes CD-ROM and electronic documents accessible through networked workstations. Access to electronic documents is also provided through IUCAT. Government Information Online, the website of the Government Documents Department of the Law Library, provides access to: • Sources of federal, state, and municipal government information • GPO Access and Thomas, government sponsored databases offering the full-text of federal legislative and agency materials • Federal Depository Library Program administrative materials • Finding tools available in the library (pamphlet file and microforms) • Guides to research and electronic sources The Library is a U.S. Federal Depository library, selecting approximately 20% of the materials available under the program. The Library is also one of only a few law schools that serves as a depository for U.S. Supreme Court records and briefs in paper. In addition the Library holds the records and briefs for the federal 2nd, 7th, 9th, and D.C. circuits and the Indiana Supreme and Appellate courts. With subscriptions to over 8,000 serials, the Law Library holds all major English language legal periodicals, a substantial collection of interdisciplinary journals, and a majority of the foreign academic law journals. |
