CIRCULATION POLICIES::

The holdings of the Law Library, as well as all other libraries in the entire I.U. system are available on IUCAT , the University's online catalog. Computer terminals are located in the lobby of the Library, near the Reference Office. You also have access to IUCAT from your office through our website. Contact a member of the reference staff for more information on accessing the online catalog.

In order to check out material from either the Law Library or any other library on campus, you must have a bar-coded faculty ID. An additional copy of your bar code is kept at the Circulation Desk so you do not have to have your ID with you to check out books at the Law Library. Please identify yourself to the desk attendant, if he or she doesn’t know you. Law faculty have an indefinite loan period for circulating books in the Law Library, but if books are needed by another borrower, they will be recalled after two weeks. You may also check out material designated as "Circulate to Carrels Only" (such as bound journals), although this material should be kept in your office. These items are subject to recall in the same manner as regularly circulating materials. Please read and respond in a timely manner to overdue and recall notices. If an item is needed by another user, a full-time staff member may retrieve it for short-term use, and it will be returned the same day. Material designated as "reference" ordinarily does not circulate. If you need this material for a short period of time, please make arrangements with a reference librarian or Rebecca Bertoloni Meli. Copies of all unbound journals, advance sheets, and certain multi-volume treatises are on reserve behind the Circulation Desk. Law faculty have a six-month renewable loan period for this material, but we ask that you return these items as soon as possible since they are in high demand.
