Cindy Cho

Cindy Cho is glad that her law school search ended in a place committed to a personal touch. "I looked at many schools in central New York, lots of really great schools," she said. "I decided on Indiana because I felt like a real person here. I remember with my acceptance letter there was a handwritten note from the admissions office."

Armed with a degree in science and industrial labor relations from New York's Cornell University, as well as the invaluable experience of teaching in Seoul, Korea, and interning in Tanzania, Cho is pursuing Indiana Law's specialty program in Labor and Employment Law.

Last summer Cho worked as a judicial extern for Judge Kenneth F. Ripple of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and she's looking forward to her position as a 2007 summer associate with Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw in New York. "The Career Services Office was excellent in helping me get in touch with a network of alumni outside the Midwest," she said. "They also did an excellent job preparing me for on campus interview rounds."

Indiana Law offers Cho a niche outside the classroom as a member of the Public Interest Law Foundation, the American Constitution Society, and the Asian Pacific Islander American Law Student Association.

In her first year, she volunteered with the Association of American Law Schools Pro Bono Project, a cooperative program in which students work closely with volunteer lawyers on civil legal matters ranging from family law to public benefits.

"I'm not a loud person, but I like to feel like I am making a difference," she said. "It's such a relief to be able to see the basics of law applied to real situations and real people. I want to use the study of law to directly help people solve tangible problems."
