    1L Interview Workshop

    First impressions are crucial and interviewing well is a skill, so the time you spend with recruiting employers can make or break your job search success. This workshop, at noon in the Moot Court Room, is designed to help you make the most out of your interview experiences. These interactive sessions will cover the comprehensive process including content, style and what to wear to make a flawless first impression. Our goal is to empower you with the skills and confidence to succeed during your upcoming interviews. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP on Symplicity.

    This is the fall semester opportunity for the student body to voice their opinions, concerns, and questions before Dean Robel. Lunch will be provided at this event, which takes place at noon in the Moot Court Room.

    Wednesday, November 17

    JD/MBA Opportunities Here and Abroad

    On Wednesday at noon in room 124, Professor Mark Need, faculty director of the IU JD/MBA programs, will hold an information session on the various JD/MBA opportunities at the Law School, including those at the Kelley School of Business and the new program with Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, South Korea.

    Exam Preparation Enhancement Sessions

    There will be three academic enhancement sessions on exam preparation. These sessions will discuss several topics related to exam prep, including tips on getting the big picture as well as exam-taking strategies. These are the last academic enhancement sessions of the semester. It is not too early OR too late to start thinking about preparing for exams. We hope you will be able to make one of these sessions. These sessions will take place today (noon); tomorrow (noon); and November 22 (4:30 p.m.). All sessions take place in room 122.

    Don't Ask, Don't Tell

    OUTlaw, in conjunction with the Service Members Legal Defense Network, will be hosting Major General Dennis Laich (ret.) at noon in the Moot Court Room. General Laich will speak about the current status of DADT repeal legislation and how Hoosiers can get involved in the fight to repeal DADT this year. Lunch will be provided. 

    FLF Gender Equity Coffee Break

    The Feminist Law Forum (FLF) is hosting its fifth annual Gender Equity Coffee Break to raise awareness and provoke discussion about gender and salary inequality. Coffee, doughnuts, and bagels will be amply available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Law School lobby. Your recommended contribution is proportionate to your projected earning potential, as determined by your gender and race. All proceeds go to Middle Way House, a local center that helps victims of rape and domestic violence with housing, employment, mentoring, legal, and service needs.

    Professor Johnsen: Reflections on Reproductive Liberty and the Rule of Law

    Professor Dawn Johnsen will give a talk entitled "Reflections on Reproductive Liberty and the Rule of Law" at noon in the Moot Court Room. Topics discussed will include Professor Johnsen's past work and the issues of abortion, torture, and "Don't Ask Don't Tell." Lunch will be provided. Her talk is sponsored by ACS, LSRJ, OUTlaw, and FLF.

    Faculty News

    Jeffrey B. Hyman, staff attorney at the Conservation Law Center, received the Litigator of the Year Award from the Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC).

    Professor Dawn Johnsen delivered a lecture at Washington University School of Law as part of its Public Law and Policy Speakers series on November 4 and an ACS talk at University Chicago Law School on November 5, both of which addressed reproductive rights, the rule of law, and the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

    BLSA Can Drive

    The Black Law Student Association is collecting cans and other nonperishable food items for its Food Drive during the entire month of November. All food items will be donated to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank, which distributes food to those in need. Please donate cans and other nonperishable food items inside boxes located outside the library and outside the BLSA office. Contact Yoni Moise at ydmoise@indiana.edu if you have any questions. 

    Scheduling Events

    An online form is available to plan and schedule meetings. Please use this form to request a room, notify Indiana Law Annotated, and send other information about your event. You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.

    ILA Submissions

    The Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Information and articles for the ILA should be submitted to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact James Boyd (joboyd@indiana.edu; phone 856-1497). Indiana Law Annotated is archived online.

    Audio-Video Services

    Requests for AV services should be sent to Max Exter (av@exchange.iu.edu). Please include the name of your group and the e-mail address of the contact person, a description of what you want to do, and the date, location, starting time, and duration of the event. Requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance and will be confirmed by e-mail.
