Student Bar Association
SBA is the Student Government of the law school and works extensively to enhance the law school community. Three students from each class and two non-J.D students are elected annually by the student body to serve on SBA. SBA has several responsibilities throughout the year. To name a few, SBA is responsible for the following functions and activities:
- Serve as the voice and a forum for student concerns and suggestions regarding the law school community.
- Work as an advisory board for the various deans of the law school and other administrative organizations. SBA regularly offers advice and suggestions on issues concerning the student body.
- Recommend students to serve on law school committees that deal with a variety of issues such as teaching, admissions, and career services. We encourage you to apply for one of these positions.
- Operate the SBA Bookstore. The SBA bookstore, located in room 004 on the ground floor, is a used-bookstore for students who want to buy and sell books at a reduced rate. The store enables students to save money and generates funds for SBA sponsored law school events.
- Plan several all-school events, including the annual Halloween Party, as well as several law school and inter-graduate school "Happy Hours." [Photo]
- 1L Elections: At the beginning of the fall semester, SBA will hold open elections to choose three 1L Class Representatives and the two non-JD Representatives.
- 2L & 3L Elections: A few weeks before the end of the Spring Semester, SBA will hold election to choose three 2L and three 3L Class-Representatives.
- SBA's primary goal is to make Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington, even better. Feel free to contact your representative to express any concerns you may have.
