Debbie Atlas joined the Law School as director of career and professional development in 2014. She is also an adjunct faculty member responsible for directing the school's Washington, DC externship program. Before joining the law school, she was the manager of staffing and professional development in the Washington, D.C. office of Goodwin Procter, where she had practiced commercial litigation immediately after law school. Atlas has extensive experience counseling lawyers about career options, establishing and administering mentoring programs, and developing professional development trainings. She has a strong network both in private practice and the federal government in Washington, D.C.

Atlas is an active member of the Professional Development Consortium and has spoken at conferences on a wide variety of topics including “Top Down Thinking: How to be a Powerful Advocate for Change,” “Using Pro Bono to Build and Evaluate Core Legal Competencies,” and “Work Assignment Systems at Law Firms: What Works and How to Get Started.”
