Biography

Kate Zearing joined the Maurer School of Law in December 2019. As director of development, major gifts, she travels locally and nationally to build relationships and engage alumni on behalf of the school, and is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic gifts. From 2015 until joining Indiana Law, Zearing supported development efforts the IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, where she served as the Luddy School's first full-time major gift officer and, before that, as associate director of development. Previously, she worked in stewardship at the IU Foundation, and in development for the local nonprofit Monroe County United Ministries.

Zearing maintains involvement in the local nonprofit community and in recent years has served as president of the board of directors of the United Way of Monroe County, on the advisory board for The Nest at New Hope for Families, and on the board of directors for the Bloomington Community Orchard.
