Biography
LaShaila Spivey obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University–Bloomington, where she majored in law and public policy at the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. While a student at IU, she chartered the IU Chapter of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA). She obtained her Juris Doctor from the Maurer School of Law, where she studied intellectual property. Spivey served on the IP Theory law journal, assisted with the Protective Order Project, and worked for IU’s Student Legal Services. She also served as a student associate in the Intellectual Property Law Clinic and Independent Film Legal Clinic.
Spivey is passionate about intellectual property law and inspiring law students. While in private practice, she worked in the areas of trademark, copyright, and entertainment law. She is a member of the Indianapolis Inns of Court and serves as the co-chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Indiana State Bar Association.
