Biography
Bella Bennett is an instructor and project manager for the Applied Research Practicum at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. In that role, she supervises interdisciplinary teams of law and undergraduate students conducting applied research for Indiana courts, regulators, and access-to-justice partners. Her current work supports efforts to build infrastructure for nonprofit legal service delivery and Allied Legal Professionals, with particular attention to competency, training, supervision, and assessment.
Bennett’s work sits at the intersection of legal education, access to justice, learning sciences, and institutional design. Her research interests focus on how legal systems can train new categories of legal professionals to improve civil legal services delivery, and on how law schools can design learning environments that foster student motivation and well-being, professional identity formation, and practical readiness.
During law school, Bennett spent two years interning with Indiana Legal Services, where she worked primarily on family law matters. She also has experience teaching future educators as a discussion instructor for Legal and Ethical Issues in Education in the Indiana University School of Education. Bennett earned her J.D. with a minor in Education Policy from Maurer in 2025 and is expected to receive her M.S.Ed. in Learning and Developmental Sciences from Indiana University in May 2028.
