Registration
The Law School will assign your fall courses and will send you instructions on how to register after mid-July. These instructions will include information on obtaining a CrimsonCard (IU student ID) and books and assignments for the first class day. (Instructions will also be posted on this page.) Do not register on your own until our office has informed you of the proper registration process and your prescribed courses. If you do, your registration will be deleted, and you will create further headaches for yourself. Visit the Complete the Enrollment Checklist page for other required tasks to complete your enrollment.
Orientation
Fall classes will begin on Tuesday, August 15, with mandatory orientation for all entering students (including international students) taking place the week of August 7 with both online and in-person components. Sessions include introductions, case reading and briefing, networking with your peer group advisors, career choices, and professionalism. The full 2023-2024 Academic Calendar will be posted after January 1.
We recommend that you arrive in Bloomington at least a week before orientation so that you have time to move in and get acclimated. You will have assignments for your first day of class, so it's best to be completely unpacked and settled (refrigerator and pantry stocked, utilities turned on, wireless network installed, etc.).
If you are an international student, the IU Office of International Students (OIS) will contact you about their required orientation. Visit ois.iu.edu/admissions/prepare-first-year/orientation/index.html. International students must attend this orientation as well as Law School orientation.
