Registration Instructions
Below are the instructions to register for your five fall semester courses. Remember, you will not select your individual classes your first year in law school. Instead, your classes in Contracts, Torts, Civil Procedure, Legal Research & Writing, and Legal Profession have already been assigned to you.
To initiate your class registration, please follow the instructions below.
- Go to https://one.iu.edu and sign in with your IU username and password.
- Search for the Student Center app. (It may be on the home page already; but if not, search for it.)
- Once you enter the Student Center, click on "Enrollment", then "Class Permissions", then click on "Fall 2025".
- Copy down the "Class Nbr" and "Catalog Nbr" for each of your five assigned classes (the Subject for all of your classes will be Law-B).
- Go back to the Student Center and click on "Class Search".
- Once inside the "Class Search", choose the term "Fall 2025" and in the space to add a class, enter the Catalog Nbr. All sections of that class will appear.
- Select the "Class Nbr" that matches the number you wrote down in step #4.
- "Save" the course to your Shopping Cart.
- Repeat the steps above for each of your five classes.
- Once you have added all five classes into your Shopping Cart and you are ready to register, select the check box of each course.
- Select the "Enroll" box corresponding to each of your five classes and review the validation results shown for possible action. If there are potential problems, a message will display. If there are no problems and you are ready to register, select the "Ok" button.
- After you have enrolled, select the schedule icon to view the classes on your schedule.
If there are problems with your class permissions, such as a missing class permission or a class conflict, please email Alexis Lanham adlanham@iu.edu. Before emailing her, be sure to check your "Class Permissions" to make sure you are attempting to enroll in the correct section of each class. Also note that you may not be allowed to register if you have certain holds on your account. You can see holds in your Student Center dashboard. You may need to complete a task or contact the department that applied the hold to have it removed.
Book List
Here is the book list for the fall 1L courses. Students can also search for books by course number on the IU Bookstore website. You should purchase your textbooks before the first day of classes.
Tuition/Scholarships
Tuition will be assessed before live scholarships have been posted in the financial aid system. The fall financial aid disbursement date is August 10th. The tuition bill will be generated on August 21st, with a due date of September 10th.
